Burke - Poetry Anthology

Burke Bulger’s project for Propel was to compose and publish a book of poems and pen drawings.  Throughout the semester, Burke worked on finding a central idea, so that his book encompassed something greater. He decided to tackle the idea that males in this generation are assumed to suppress their deepest feelings to remain masculine.

In his poems he speaks about love, pain and affection as to defeat the idea that he should repress his emotions to fit into the ideal version of his sex. Burke’s 56 poems surround themes of heartbreak and intimacy as well as his deepest emotions and impressions on the world around him; all of this to defeat the notion that, "Boys Don’t Cry."
