Before coming into Propel, Maddy knew she wanted to embark on a project that would have a positive impact on the environment. Maddy decided to achieve this goal by bringing awareness to the negative effects that “fast fashion” and clothing production/distribution can have on the planet. She decided to do so by creating an online portfolio of upcycled clothing to promote the reuse and recycling of said clothing.
The purpose of the portfolio was to demonstrate the “before” and “after” product of each clothing article upcycled. Maddy has upcycled a total of five pieces, each piece collected via clothing donation from friends in the community.
The portfolio is supported through Site123’s website creator. Website creation has been a large factor in Maddy’s project. The website ‘Take Two’, consists of a home page, an about page, a lookbook page, a stay informed page, and, finally, a contact page.
To bring further awareness to these topics, Maddy has added articles by several different writers to the ‘Stay Informed’ page on her website.
